Moonrise stemmed from my love of Alexia Abegg's Moonrise fabric collection. Upon seeing her fabric line I knew I needed to make something special with it, and the Moonrise quilt was born. I kept calling it my moonrise quilt, so when I decided to pattern it the name stuck around. The pattern works beautifully for all styles and combinations, from using a full fabric line, to selecting your own fabrics, to a scrappy style, or even solids. There is so much flexibility with this one.
About the Pattern
The Moonrise quilt comes with all 4 sizes in one PDF: baby (45" x 51"), throw (57" x 63"), twin (69" x 87"), and queen (81" x 99"). Each size has its own dedicated page with individual yardage requirements for multiple fabric combinations, cutting instructions, and layout diagrams. I also include cutting diagrams for fat quarters and yardage, a printable coloring sheet, and construction diagrams.
The quilt is pieced with a 1/4" seam allowance and is constructed in columns sewn top to bottom rather than the more common rows-sewn-together method. The pattern takes a little bit of planning for fabric layout, but once that's done the cutting and construction go quickly. The pattern is fat quarter friendly. Skill level is beginner to advanced.
