This pattern was nine years in the making. It started with a first version I made for my sister-in-law whose nickname was Squirrel at the time, and I'll be honest, it looked a little dead. But she loved it anyway. A few years later I made another version with better proportions, fixed the arm, added a real eye. People started asking if it would be a pattern, but the odd angles in that version made it hard to write up.
In 2023 I resurrected it one more time and made it in Sugar Maple by Ruby Star Society. I changed the configuration again to make it mostly squares and pieced quads, easy to sew but with the proportions finally right. I think it landed in the cutest possible place.

About the Pattern
The pattern is 20 pages of detailed information: two full cutting pages, several info and full quilt diagram pages including a coloring sheet, and pages 7 through 19 are written instructions with full-color diagrams. The quilt measures 60" x 72" and is traditionally pieced, all straight line sewing. The cutting and planning are the trickiest parts, not the sewing itself.
The pattern uses fat quarters and fat eighths and can be made as simple or as scrappy as you want. A bonus acorn block pattern is included with its own cut list, written instructions, and a private YouTube video walkthrough. There's also a private companion video linked in the main pattern that expands on the planning and cutting sections if you want a little more guidance.
